Resurrection Day

The Power of Faith Hope and Love

Matthew 28:1-10

Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb. And behold, there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat on it. His countenance was like lightning, and his clothing as white as snow. And the guards shook for fear of him, and became like dead men. But the angel answered and said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen,

as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you.” So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. And as they went to tell His disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, “Rejoice!” So they came and held Him by the feet and worshiped Him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell My brethren to go to Galilee, and there they will see Me.”

Matthew 28:16-20

Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had appointed for them. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some doubted. And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Held Him by the feet and worshipped Him

Do not be afraid

They worshipped Him

All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Baptizing them

Teaching them

I am with you always even to the end of the age!!!

  1. Faith

He is Risen!

1 Corinthians 15:1-8

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time.

  • Our faith is in the gospel
  • Christ died for our sins
  • He was buried
  • He rose again
  • He was seen

2. Hope

All authority has been given to Me in Heaven and on earth.

1 Corinthians 15:19-26

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable.

But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the first-fruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the first-fruits, afterward those who are Christ’s at His coming. Then comes the end, when He delivers the kingdom to God the Father, when He puts an end to all rule and all authority and power. For He must reign till He has put all enemies under His feet. The last enemy that will be destroyed is death.

  • There is more than this life
  • Notice he has been given all authority in heaven and earth
  • He puts an end to all rule and authority and power
  • By delivering the kingdom to His Father
  • So He will reign until He has put all enemies under His feet.
  • The last enemy to be destroyed is death
  • We have hope because in Christ all shall be made alive!!!
  • Hope eternal
  • Hope everlasting

1 Corinthians 15:50-57

Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O Death, where is your sting? O Hades, where is your victory?” The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

3.  Love

Go quickly and tell

Great Joy

Held Him by the feet and worshipped Him

Do not be afraid

They worshipped Him

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Baptizing them

Teaching them

We see two things here Mary and Martha

The worshipper and the servant

Love is an act of our will

We must be a worshipper

We must be a servant

That brings us back to the love slave.

When you are living in the Love of the Resurrected Lord

There ain’t no grave gonna hold your body down

No grave of sin

No grave of failures

No grave of pain

No grave of addiction

No grave of rejection
