Our Hearts Burned within Us

Our Hearts Burned within Us

Journey with Jesus: The Resurrection
Our Hearts burned within us

Luke 24:32
And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

The story: Luke 24:13-35
They did not know it was him their eyes were restrained:

Jesus speaks to them

Luke 24:17
And He said to them, “What kind of conversation is this that you have with one another as you walk and are sad?”

The general mood of the disciples is sadness

Luke 24:21 shows us what they were sad about

But we were hoping that it was He who was going to redeem Israel. Indeed, besides all this, today is the third day since these things happened.

They had lost hope

It has been 3 days

Luke 24:25-27 I want you to see this is where their Hearts start to burn.

Then He said to them,“O foolish ones, and slow of heart to believe in all that the prophets have spoken! Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?” And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

Faith comes by hearing hearing by the Word of God!

Luke 24:30-31
Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight.

When the bread was broken: then their eyes were open.

Here the theme is similar to last Sundays message when Jesus said put your nets on the other side of the boat John knew it was the Lord

In the familiar God shows himself.

He broke bread and blessed it! Their eyes were open.

Do we want our hearts to burn with in us?

Do we want our eyes open to God’s fresh revelations

It all starts in the Word

Their hearts burned when He opened the Scriptures to them!

Their next words are in verse 34. The Lord is risen indeed!

Please hear the scriptures that He shared with them: Moses, the prophets, and all the things concerning himself.

So many want to say oh that is just in the Old Testament. How church their is so much life in the Old Testament once you understand that Jesus is risen indeed!

Last week I used the story of the Ark and the Red Sea to help us see the excitement of Peter as he plunged into the Sea.

Christians love the Word,
read the Word, live the Word.

The Old Testament should reveal to you the story of redemption of your own life over and over again.

Finally, Jesus is alive, He is the Word of God, Therefore His Word should be living in us. Those that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth. So it is very important to understand that He has sent us a Helper,

A Comforter. The actual word is Para Cleat one who walks alongside us. So We have the Living God who has regenerated us living inside of us. We activate that Spirit by the Word of God!
