His Last Days The Power of Faith Hope and Love Part 4

His Last Days The Power of Faith Hope and Love Part 4

His Last Days The Power of Faith Hope and Love Part 4

Matthew 24:30-51

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. “Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors! Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place. Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away. “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left. Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect. “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. Assuredly, I say to you that he will make him ruler over all his goods. But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  1. When Jesus comes everyone will know

Matthew 24:30-31

Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

  • Signs will appear in the sky
  • The Son of Man will appear in the clouds
  • He will be accompanied by angels
  • Who will gather the faithful from the four winds or directions of the earth.
  • The north the south the east and the west

2.  Another lesson from the leaves

Matthew 24:32-33

“Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!

  • Quite simply the green leaves are a sign that summer is coming
  • As disciples when you see these cataclysmic signs the time is come
  • The entire earth will see it all fulfilled

3.  No one knows the day and the hour that it will occur

Matthew 24:36

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.

  • So Jesus says that even He does not know when this day will be
  • We are reminded that people did not know when the flood was going to come everyone just kept going about their business and they were caught unaware

Matthew 24:37-39

But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

4.  Jesus return is something you cannot run away from

Matthew 24:40-41

Then two men will be in the field: one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding at the mill: one will be taken and the other left.

  • This is going to happen and you cannot hid from it.

5.  Be ready by keeping watch

Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known what hour the thief would come, he would have watched and not allowed his house to be broken into. Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

  • The best you can do to be ready is to keep watch.
  • Stay aligned with the Father
  • Walk in love
  • Share your faith with others

Moving from the Head to the Heart

Matthew 24:45-51

Equipping us with Faith Hope and Love

I want to draw your attention to three words

  • Faithful
  • Delaying His coming
  • Servant
  1. Faithful

Remember we are moving from the head to the heart

In Galatians 5:22 The Apostle Paul tells us what the fruit of the Spirit is the garden that is inside of us

And one of those trees growing is Faith but in the greek it is the word faithful

What does it mean to be faithful it is doing what your father or in this case your master has asked you to do.

Think about Joseph and His story in the Old Testament He is the picture of this faithful and wise servant who was made ruler over all of Pharaoh’s household and second in command of Egypt and He fed them food in due season a season of drought.

So faithful is a willing and obedient heart to do your Masters will.

Faith-Full

2.  Delaying His coming

This is where people lose hope

There is a waiting process

Practical side

Why do people lose hope?

The answer does not come right away

Now specifically if we can see that this whole message today is tied to The Blessed Hope of the Church.

Titus 2:13

looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

People begin to think that maybe this is not real

Please hear the reason for the delay

2 Peter 3:9

The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

So His delay could be for your child, or grand child or for you

It is His mercy that He has not returned

So hang on to hope

3.  Servant

Exodus 21:5-6

But if the servant plainly says, ‘I love my master, my wife, and my children; I will not go out free,’ then his master shall bring him to the judges. He shall also bring him to the door, or to the doorpost, and his master shall pierce his ear with an awl; and he shall serve him forever.

Faith, Hope, and Love here is the Love

We are called to be Love slaves of your master the Lord Jesus Christ

Paul would introduce himself this way

Romans 1:1

Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated to the gospel of God

The greatest freedom we know as a lover of Christ is that of a willful Bond slave or better put a Love Slave of Jesus.

Jesus has taken all the head knowledge that he shared with them in verses 30-44 and brought it to the heart in this small parable to complete this chapter and to give context for the next parable in chapter 25 of the 10 virgins.

How do we remain ready for the Lords return?

Stay aligned to Faith Hope and Love

Notice those who don’t become

Judgemental

Fearful

Mean and hateful beating fellow servants

They are not aligned and therefore not ready when he comes

One last time stay aligned to Faith, Hope, and Love
