Great Command & Great Commission

Great Command & Great Commission

The Great Commandment & the Great Commission

Matthew 22:37, “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’

Matthew 28:18-20, “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

1.  WE SEE A GIVING CHURCH

That is generous with our time, talents, gifts and finances to see the Great Commission accomplished in our city, our nation and around the world in the spirit of the Great Commandment.  We are a church of givers.

Obedience intertwined with love

This is love for God that we would obey His commands.

Christ the King in the center

Love God

Love Others

Multiply Disciples

His command is go make disciples everything else is how to do that

Baptizing them

Teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you.

2.  WE VALUE PEOPLE – EVERY PERSON MATTERS.

Chinese Prayer meeting

We sense that God is calling someone to Burma

They prayed 7 times

Because Elijah prayed 7 times.

Finally one of the women said it was her.

the American missionary went to bed exhausted

When he woke up he said where is Sister

Don’t you remember God called her

But we go in twos so we had to wait for one more once the other sister felt the call we gave her all the money that we had and bought them a one way bus ticket.

How do we make that practical for us

If every person matters

When God puts some one on your heart be quick to obey.

3.  WE VALUE GENEROSITY – WE ARE CONTRIBUTORS AND NOT CONSUMERS.

Missions is not about rich people funding the mission field

It is about the body of Christ listening to his voice and obeying it

God then uses our gifts our talents our contribution and spreads the Kingdom of God.

Giving without expectation

Each person here today is somewhere on this journey

You may have lived a long Christian Life and helped hundreds of people but you still need the gifts of the entire body around you.

You may be brand new to this church thing and we are here to encourage and help you take your next step.

Or you may be here and have never take your first faith step.  I am here to help you right now and because we

Believe that every person matters and we believe in being generous as a church we are here to help you to begin this journey

Blessings
